Ti Amo Loves Hurricane Heaven

POINT OF VIEW:

A Dog Named Ti Amo

My friends and I do not relish hurricane season. The truth is, we unequivocally ADORE it. Wah-hoo!!!

We live in Florida in the United States. Our owner, Fawn Rising, keeps preparations set up for emergencies. She is always prepared with a plan. We try to help her by reminding her to stock our food as well as hers, supplies for our neighbors, and for our magnificently-gifted grandchildren. (There are SEVEN!)

Our hand-poured steel-reinforced Safe Room is downstairs and is connected to an art studio overlooking the clear waters of Crystal Lake. One grandson, Simon Claude (17 years old!), thinks it is not unlike a museum facing a freshwater lake. It doubles as a pantry and is filled with emergency items along with LOTS OF WATER. It is a perfect storage place for camping gear which can double for sleeping gear during severe weather.

Additionally, it is filled with books to read! These are very thick and critical for protecting the windows from possible nuclear energies entering. We can also READ!

(My DNA is a Whippet from the United Kingdom coupled with Labrador Retriever. You would enjoy seeing me leap and run!)

My backup foods are there along with my friends’ foods who are excellent felines: BeauCoup, Taser, Rocket-Man, and Grey-Baby. They are Rescue Animals as well. Each one has an amazing adventure story of survival.

We make quite a diverse family and have great fun. I will admit, it has taken me a few years to learn how to adjust, cope, and accept having cats as my companions. I can now actually share sleeping space with all of them. Sometimes they lick my face as I drift off!

(Important note: I personally do not lick or drool! Many humans seem to appreciate this. My training is to get adult help in the event my owner has a seizure and, it is the only time I allow myself to bark.)

Today we are amidst a hurricane adventure. Fawn Rising, our owner,  writes and illustrates children’s books. She is keeping notes on the advancement of this particular hurricane heading up our western-most coastline of Florida which harbors the Gulf of Mexico! Gorgeous.

The hurricane is named Elsa and she has the ability to increase her wind power very quickly. Other than that, she seems to follow the pathway projected, that of coming from the Atlantic, crossing over Cuba, and hitting Key West, then curving northward across Tampa Bay. Now, as I write, I can hear her maneuvers at my lake place in north-central Florida as she heads to Georgia and northward.

Right now it is a soft squishy rain. And it is 5 am.

One of my family seems to be missing. Oh, no! Tell me it isn’t so! Where is my precious, brilliant, trouble-inducing friend we call Grey-Baby? He is a most remarkable cat with a solid grey-silver body and eyes. Brilliance bounces off of his lean hunter-body.

I must go search for him!

More later…
