Everything I ever lost
Was during a time of war ~
Relationship war.
And, you will hear me say, smilingly
Oh, yes! I lost that in a time of war when conjugal visions
Came unraveled.
I, considered everyone’s favorite
former girlfriend
former partner
former wife
former friend
former role model,
jest to cover the broken shards of gilded memories
that linger ~
While I simultaneously embrace change.
Change that propels me through the dance of aging ~
Old woman, where do you hide?
The greatest war is within myself.
